Antique Regency Mahogany Pembroke Drop Leaf Table c.1810

An elegant antique Regency mahogany Pembroke table, dating from circa 1810–1820, featuring a beautifully figured mahogany top, two rounded drop leaves and slender turned legs terminating in brass cup castors. This attractive early 19th-century table combines traditional Georgian craftsmanship with a practical, space-saving design. The richly coloured mahogany top features two rounded drop leaves that open to create a generous oval surface. When closed, the table measures just 53cm wide, making it ideal for smaller rooms or spaces where additional surface area is occasionally required. A particularly attractive feature is the pair of bow-fronted drawers, one at each end, providing useful storage for cutlery, stationery or other small essentials. The drawers feature fine hand-cut dovetail joints, demonstrating the quality of the traditional construction. The original tight rule joints remain, allowing the drop leaves to sit neatly against the main tabletop. The table stands on elegant, slender turned legs with brass cup castors. The current brass ring handles are later replacements, fitted in place of the original wooden-threaded turned knobs. A characterful and versatile antique, suitable as an occasional dining table, breakfast table, hallway table or side table. The mahogany displays an attractive aged colour and natural patina, with surface marks, minor knocks and variations to the finish consistent with over 200 years of use.
