Antique Silver Silk Lined Trinket Box - Intialled R

This beautiful antique silver trinket box has been refurbished in sumptuous green silk. There is a monogram on the cartouche for R. The makers Saunders and Shepherd were founded in London in 1869 by Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders Sr. and James Francis Hollings Shepherd, where they set up a workshop at Bartlett’s Buildings in Holborn Circus. Less than fifty years on, the manufacturing of stylish items like this elegant oval trinket box were happening in Birmingham and the business continued to develop a reputation for quality and innovative products that kept abreast of rapidly changing fashions.
