This antique desk is of satinwood which is the finer wood used for the more prestigious and luxurious furniture created by master cabinetmakers. Carlton house antique desks date from the Georgian 18th century, Victorian 19th century and very early Edwardian 20th century 1901 to 1916. This particular antique desk has a sliding writing table section, as well as numerous drawers.
