Early 20th Century Italian Genre Oil Painting – The Family Hearth by A. S. Checchini (Roma, 1911)

A fine, large-scale Italian interior genre painting depicting a vibrant, multi-generational domestic scene, signed and dated A. S. Checchini, Roma 1911. Rendered with narrative detail and rich colour, the focal point centers on a young woman managing a spool of bright blue thread, assisted by an older woman spinning with a wooden distaff and spindle. Surrounding them are lively domestic details: a young boy holding up a yarn winder, a toddler resting on a floor cushion playing with the taut thread overhead, and an elderly man seated near a chair gently feeding a pair of white doves.  Housed in its attractive gilt wooden profile frame, the reverse retains an authentic early-to-mid 20th-century Brussels picture framer’s label (C. Artiges-Schleiper, Rue Gray, Bruxelles). Approx 79cm x 100cm within a gilt frame.
