Irish Waterford Cut Glass Serving Bowl And Stand C1830

Technical Description An exceptional early Irish serving bowl dating to c1830. Serrated edge with bands of prisms around the rim. A wide band of sharp cross cut diamonds with further prisms above a radial cut foot. The bowl comes with its original stand, again with a serrated rim and cross cuts diamonds. An exceptional piece, almost certainly Waterford and part of a small collection of Irish table ware from the early 19th century. Date & Origin Ireland, c1830. Period of George IV. Condition Overall in excellent condition. A few very minor nibbles as expected for table ware 200 years old but obviously been cherished and in remarkable condition. Dimensions Height: 14.5cm Diameter: 15.5cm. Historical Context Hand-blown around the time Austins of Derry was established in Northern Ireland. At its closure in 2016, it remained the world's oldest independent department store.
