Pair Irish Waterford Cut Glass Standing Bowls or Comports C1830

Technical Description A truly superb pair of cut glass serving comports, almost certainly from the Waterford factory showing an array of deep cutting and polishing techniques. A scalloped fan cut rim with sharp diamonds within prisms. Slice cut stems above a terraced, scalloped, radial cut foot. Amongst the finest examples we have had. Date & Origin Ireland, c1830. Period of George IV. Condition Overall in excellent condition. A few minor nibbles as expected for table ware 200 years old but obviously been cherished and in remarkable condition. Dimensions Height: 12.5cm Diameter: 23cm. Historical Context Hand-blown around the time Austins of Derry was established in Northern Ireland. At its closure in 2016, it remained the world's oldest independent department store.
