Welcome to chapmanpugh modern antiques. We sell antiques from the 17th to the 21st centuries that look good in modern and contemporary settings. We are particularly interested in pieces created by influential designers, manufacturers and furniture makers. We choose examples which we think are stylish and are interested in their place in history. We especially like antiques with a story attached.
We also love the fact that by buying an antique piece of furniture, pottery, glass etc to use again, we are preserving our natural resources and preventing the environmental burden of another item being produced. This is why antiques are so wonderfully sustainable.
New items are added on a regular basis.

A wonderful opportunity to own a magnificent "statement piece" antique Italian walnut carved Griffin circular dining table c.1840.
This impressive dining table - which can also be used as a hall table - has a massive hand carved pedestal base on paw feet supported by hand carved tripod dimensional Griffins on three legs to a moulded platform. The striking hand carved Griffins on the central support create an impressive focal point to this amazing piece.
The circular table top has decorative hand carved bevelled edges and a thick decorative apron. The table's 'time worn" patina adds to its appeal.
Just as a point of interest, we acquired this table from a seller who described it as a "Mahogany Pedestal Table Carved Base circa 1840". However when we had it looked at by a valuer who had worked at Sotheby's he described it as "A 19th Century Italian walnut circular table circa 1840 on tripod griffin supports to a moulded platform". Some individual woods are not always easy to identify but we think it is walnut.
Many more photographs are available by email as required.
