Original Oil Print on Paper 'reclining Nude' by Ken Walch 1927-2017. Signed, Dated and Numbered 2/3

Born in Wimbledon 1927. After school he moved to Australia in the early 1950s and won a place at the National Gallery Art School in Melbourne where he studied under Murray Griffin until 1953 when he returned to England. He then enrolled at St Martins School of Art where his principal tutor was the Colourist, Fredrick Gore. Gore introduced him to English post-impressionism and the use of colour to emphasize the emotional aspects of painting. He then took a diploma in Art teaching and taught in various schools until his retirement. He has exhibited London at the Royal Academy and the Federation of Painters and Sculptors. His work has also been exhibited in Belgium, Germany, Hong Kong and Ireland with paintings in private collections throughout the world. His pointillist paintings show his skill at capturing nature in its ever changing forms in a subtle yet vibrant fashion. A lovely oil print of a reclining girl. Ken developed a technique of printing using wood blocks to produce a pointillist image. These blocks would be painted with oil paint and individualy pressed on to the paper. He produced these in very limited runs (as this one, 2 of 3) due to the time required to build up the picture by hand. Provenance; The artists' studio.
