Description
Attractive pair of Art Deco Royal Doulton stoneware vases by Florrie Jones c1920. Inverted baluster form with collar neck. Glossy, mottled purple and lilac to upper body and satin-finished, slate-grey to lower body. Geometric panels of stylised floral and foliate design executed using scraffito and painted techniques. Striking design and colours which combine with the form to give a particularly attractive pair. Impressed Royal Doulton mark (used 1902-1922) and pattern number 7943. Monogrammed ‘Fj’ (for Florrie Jones) and ‘r’ (for Letitia Rosevear). The vases measures 20.5 cm in height and 11 cm maximum diameter.
Florrie Jones is listed as working at Doulton as Senior Assistant in 1902 and worked at Royal Doulton until 1928. Her work was well regarded, and she completed a number of original designs. Letitia Rosevear worked at Doulton from c1880 to the early 1920s.
