Pocket Watch Cyma Swiss 1920s Antique 15 Jewel Large Silver Nickel Case

Gentleman's Antique Swiss 'Cyma' high grade 15 jewel pocket watch with beautiful ivory porcelain dial in a chunky 18 size 'Silvernus' nickel hermetic case. C~1920's. Looks to have been much loved and very well taken care of - her condition certainly reflects this. Full working order (keeps absolutely excellent time - in fact so good I have been using it to time my other watches), checked/serviced by my highly experienced watchmaker and is guaranteed to be 100% authentic - a timepiece to grace any collection! Dial;- Impressive and distinctive, high gloss, 'snowflake' white porcelain dial in very near mint condition - no hairlines or marks and just two extremely tiny (micro) little 'flea nibbles' to edge of dial between 12 - 2 (so small are not visible with the naked eye, unseen with the bezel on but mentioning for accuracy). Clearly signed in black very fancy script; CYMA, with; SWISS MADE in arched black script to base of dial. Bold black Roman numerals with black minute markers, bolder black triangular shaped 5 minute markers and black diamond shaped 15 minute markers to chapter ring. Large recessed, slightly textured sub dial with black Arabic numbers and black seconds chapters. Finely cut, original bright blued steel spade and whip hands and blued steel arrow tip seconds hand all in lovely straight order. Original glass (not acrylic) in amazingly clear and bright condition - free from any scratches or marks. Case;- The highly polished chunky 'Silvernus' (Trade name for silver nickel) 18 size hermetic case (5.3cm diameter / 7.7cm from top of bow to base) is heavy (has a pleasing solid feel in the hand and total watch weight is a hefty 111 grams), robust and in wonderful condition (please excuse the reflections/dark shadows in the pictures, was extremely difficult to photograph) - absolutely no wear or indentations and just a few overall tiny surface scratches (all usually caused by carrying the watch in a pocket with other heavy objects jangling around) commensurate with age and use in her 100+ years service. These robust silver nickel cases where favoured by Railway men for their strength and durability. All covers (both inside and out) still retain their original, high gloss, mirror finish. The front bezel (which has a totally un-worn and very attractive coin edge) and back cover screw on and off correctly ((hermetic), closing tightly and I have taken the liberty of oiling the threads thus giving years of continuous smooth operation. Clearly stamped to the inside of the back cover; SILVERNUS, has the symbol of a large winged waterwheel (very similar to the Thomas Russell cases) and is numbered; 65852 2. Carries seven old service marks (certainly looks to have been very well maintained) - three of which look to be dated; 35 (1935), 36 (1936) and 66 (1966). Movement;- The stem wound and set high grade 15 ruby jewelled Swiss lever movement is in clean and bright order and as mentioned above has just been checked/serviced by my highly experienced watch maker. Carries very attractive wavy engine turning to the top plates - the detail of which remains as crisp and clear today as the day they were made. Has a solid bi-arm balance with brass balance screws and two brass meantime screws (for precision timing), steel balance spring which is true, in the round and 'breathing' well, large ruby jewels in sunken chaton settings, ruby end stone, ruby pallet jewels, attractive 'swirl' engine turning to the mirror finish mainspring and ratchet barrel covers and original, matching highly polished, slightly domed steel case screws. Stamped clearly on the top plates in arched black script; SWISS MADE 15 JEWELS ADJUSTED and is beautifully stamped around the mainspring barrel cover; * CYMA *. Clearly stamped to the bottom plate (side of the balance assembly); REF.999a and is numbered to the opposite side of the bottom plate (under the dial); 18264992. This number is correctly, partially repeated to the underside of the balance cock; 92. Balance action is tremendous in all positions (could not be any better) with a sure, strong positive action - runs like a train. Winds extremely smoothly and fully (do not be afraid to fully wind, over-winding is the greatest horological myth!) Hand set operates smoothly and correctly - the pull up/push down action is very firm and true. Has the rarer rose gold dust proof cap and lovely original crisp un-worn big 'onion' crown. Original large bow. Appraisal;- A very handsome and highly impressive Gentleman's Swiss timepiece - she will make a perfect gift and a heirloom to be enjoyed by your future generations!
