Description
Gentleman's highly impressive original Vintage Westclox (U.S.A) railway type pocket watch with ornate ivory dial in a chunky 16 size, 12ct gold plated, highly polished (mirror finish) case with large locomotive to back cover. Looks to have been much loved and very well taken care of - her condition certainly reflects this. Full working order and is an excellent timekeeper with plenty of room on the regulator (which is sat correctly in the central position) for any further fine tuning. Fully checked, serviced by my highly experienced watchmaker and is guaranteed to be 100% authentic - a timepiece to grace any collection! Dial:- Impressive and distinctive, high gloss ivory coloured dial in mint condition - absolutely no marks, fading or nibbles. Large black Roman numerals which are flanked by very fancy gold swirls and 'stars' with black minute markers and bolder five minute markes to chapter ring. Clearly stamped in bold, black script; WESTCLOX with; MADE IN U.S.A in black arched script to base of dial. Recessed sub dial with black Arabic numbers and black seconds chapters again detailed with gold sub markers. Finely cut, original big black steel spade and whip hands and original gold arrow tip seconds hand all in lovely straight order. Domed original crystal in clear and bright condition with few overall tiny little surface scratches showing under eyeglass only. Case:- The highly polished and very chunky 12ct gold plated (professionally tested) 16 size case (4.9cm diameter / 7.2cm from top of bow to base, weighs 43 grams) is in wonderful condition (please excuse the reflections/dark shadows in the pictures, was extremely difficult to photograph) - absolutely no indentations or wear and just a few extremely light and fine little overall surface scratches commensurate with age and use in her 50+ years service. All covers (both inside and out) still retain their original, high gloss, mirror finish. The back cover carries a large and highly detailed early American locomotive to centre which is thundering down the tracks with smoke billowing. Stamped to the inside in red script with the manufacturer's model number; 10913B. Movement:- The stem wound and set pin pallet movement is in superb clean and bright order and as mentioned above has just been checked/serviced by my highly experienced watch maker. (Is accessed from the case via the back, ie front bezel is fixed). Stamped clearly on the mainspring retaining plate; MADE IN U.S.A. Balance action is great all positions and is keeping excellent time with a sure, strong positive action and loud tick - runs like a train. Winds extremely smoothly and fully (do not be afraid to fully wind, over-winding is the greatest horological myth!) Hand set operates smoothly and correctly - the pull up/push down action is very firm and true. Lovely original large totally un-worn 'onion' crown and original big firm un-worn bow. Appraisal:- A very handsome and highly impressive Gentleman's American railroad type timepiece which as mentioned earlier was much loved and proudly cared for by the original owner - she will make a perfect gift and a heirloom to be enjoyed by your future generations! Ready to wear or display. Will be delivered in a new presentation box as shown and be very securely and safely packed.
