You will love the colours, green & brown, purple, white, grey, blue colour hues which are clear & bright. Medium watercolour on paper with front glass protective cover. Signed in the corner by the known British listed artist Edward Horace Thompson. In our opinion this an exceptional example of his work. Artist biography Artist biography Edward H Thompson (1879-1949) a known British artist, his works fetch up to $4,605 US dollars. He is considered one of the finest Lakeland artists of his era, he worked in watercolour & was able to seize the natural charm of landscapes of his indigenous birthplace in Cumbria. He was born in the large village of Seaton which is a civil parish in Cumbria England. Historically part of Cumberland close to the Lake District. It is home to around 5,000 people and is one of the largest villages in England. He worked in a factory office nearby coastal town at the mouth of the River Derwent, west coast of Cumbria. He adored to paint which was his greatest passion in life, he painted during his spare time, eventually he had a studio in Cockermouth. His works are highly sought after & are held in private collections around the world along with being exhibited at Gladstone & Patterson along in other galleries & auction houses. Helvellyn (/hɛlˈvɛlɪn/; possible meaning: pale yellow moorland) is a mountain in the English Lake District, the highest point of the Helvellyn range, a north–south line of mountains to the north of Ambleside, between the lakes of Thirlmere and Ullswater. Helvellyn is the third-highest point both in England and in the Lake District, and access to Helvellyn is easier than to the two higher peaks of Scafell Pike and Scafell. The scenery includes three deep glacial coves and two sharp-topped ridges on the eastern side (Striding Edge and Swirral Edge). Helvellyn was one of the earliest fells to prove popular with walkers and explorers; beginning especially in the later 18th century. Among the early visitors to Helvellyn were the poets Samuel Taylor Coleridge and William Wordsworth, both of whom lived nearby at one period. Many routes up the mountain are possible so that it may be approached from all directions. Thirlmere is a reservoir in the Borough of Allerdale in Cumbria and the English Lake District. The Helvellyn ridge lies to the east of Thirlmere. To the west of Thirlmere are a number of fells; for instance, Armboth Fell and Raven Crag both of which give views of the lake and of Helvellyn beyond. It runs roughly south to north and is bordered on the eastern side for much of its length by the A591 road and on the western side by a minor road. It occupies the site of a former natural lake: this had a fordable waist so narrow that it was (and is) sometimes regarded as two lakes. In the 19th century Manchester Corporation constructed a damat the northern end, raising the water level, flooding the valley bottom, and creating a reservoir to provide the growing industrial city of Manchester with water supplies via the 96 mile-long Thirlmere Aqueduct.
