Title “Thirlmere and Helvellyn Lake District” by Edward Horace Thompson c.1925.
Subject landscape lake district view in Cumbria.
Having breath-taking perspective, your focus is drawn to the central area that opens up showing the beautiful Thirlmere reservoir lake, you can see the chiaroscuro effect of light and dark, with lighter white reflection areas that runs parallel in places along the water surface, with darker areas which is so fascinating to look at, with lush green grass & purple heather vegetation around the shoreline. Sloping hills and mountains further back. A ray of golden light shining on one side of the mountain left flank, a tall tree in the foreground on a slope surrounded by heather, wuth other smaller trees further down heading towards the shore.
In the distance are the hills and mountains with mist higher up either side above with mixed overcast sky with lighter sky areas and a small area of blue sky shining through. You will love the colours, green & brown, purple, white, grey, blue colour hues which are clear & bright.

In our opinion this an exceptional example of his work.

It is home to around 5,000 people and is one of the largest villages in England. He worked in a factory office nearby coastal town at the mouth of the River Derwent, west coast of Cumbria. Helvellyn (/hɛlˈvɛlɪn/; possible meaning: pale yellow moorland) is a mountain in the English Lake District, the highest point of the Helvellyn range, a north–south line of mountains to the north of Ambleside, between the lakes of Thirlmere and Ullswater. Helvellyn is the third-highest point both in England and in the Lake District, and access to Helvellyn is easier than to the two higher peaks of Scafell Pike and Scafell. The scenery includes three deep glacial coves and two sharp-topped ridges on the eastern side (Striding Edge and Swirral Edge). Helvellyn was one of the earliest fells to prove popular with walkers and explorers; beginning especially in the later 18th century. Among the early visitors to Helvellyn were the poets Samuel Taylor Coleridge and William Wordsworth, both of whom lived nearby at one period. Many routes up the mountain are possible so that it may be approached from all directions.
Thirlmere is a reservoir in the Borough of Allerdale in Cumbria and the English Lake District. The Helvellyn ridge lies to the east of Thirlmere. To the west of Thirlmere are a number of fells; for instance, Armboth Fell and Raven Crag both of which give views of the lake and of Helvellyn beyond. It runs roughly south to north and is bordered on the eastern side for much of its length by the A591 road and on the western side by a minor road. It occupies the site of a former natural lake: this had a fordable waist so narrow that it was (and is) sometimes regarded as two lakes. In the 19th century Manchester Corporation constructed a damat the northern end, raising the water level, flooding the valley bottom, and creating a reservoir to provide the growing industrial city of Manchester with water supplies via the 96 mile-long Thirlmere Aqueduct.
