Caithness - Glass-maker

Caithness Glass is a Scottish studio glass firm which was established in 1961. Originally founded to help bolster local employment, the local sand did not provide the clarity needed to produce tableware, so instead they chose to specialise in artistic paper-weights and smaller ornaments. Their beautifully use of colour and motion have made Caithness pieces highly collectable and they even obtained a Royal Warrant via the Queen Mother in 1968. Although the main firm shrunk and changed hands many times during the 21st Century there is still a small production today.
