This is a magnificent, exceptionally large mid-20th Century oil on canvas portrait painting, believed to be after the celebrated Dutch portrait artist Cornelis van der Voort (1576–1624). The impressive full-length portrait depicts a distinguished Elizabethan/Jacobean lady standing upon a chequered stone floor, dressed in elaborate clothes with fine lace and a magnificent white pleated ruff collar. The painting beautifully captures the grandeur and aristocratic elegance of early 17th-century European portraiture, with particularly attractive attention to the sitter's facial features, intricate costume and delicate lacework. Presented within an attractive black moulded frame with gilt inner detailing.
