Signed Tapio Wirkkala Pinus Vase from Iittala

A lovely piece of mid 20th century art glass, this was designed by Tapio Wirkkala (1915-1985) of Finland for Iittala and is initialled on the base. - Clear glass in an irregular shape showing ice formations, with a bark look inspired by the pine forests of Scandinavia. - Initialled TW etched on the base. - Flat, envelope shaped vase with a good height for larger flower arrangements. - Mould blown glass. In good condition showing wear consistent with age and use. Some very tiny nibbles around the rim, which are smoothed, with normal wear scratches to the base.
