'almonds and Fruit' Still Life Painting by Brian Davies

A still life oil painting entitled ‘Almonds and Fruit’ by celebrated artist Brian Davies (1942 - 2004), signed on the front with a title label and a gallery label to the rear. The painting is beautifully executed, as you would expect from such a talented artist, and very well framed. Brian Davies was one of Britains foremost still life artists. He was heavily inspired by the Dutch still life artists of the seventeenth century such as Van der Ast, De Heem, Heda and Claesz who had revolutionised the still life genre by painting texture and light in intricate detail. This painting has a label for the Granby Gallery in Bakewell, which held exhibitions of Davies work. It is painted on linen and is presented in a moulded gilt frame with linen slip. Including the frame: 44.5cm wide, 34.2cm tall, 5cm deep. The image size is approximately 29.2cm wide by 19cm tall.
