In General -Large, original framed oil painting titled The Bride and the Mourners. -Painted in 1980 by leading artist Julia Heseltine (1938–2023). -Her notable clients included Ted Hughes, Sir Laurence Olivier, Alan Clark MP, Bamber Gascoigne, Dame Joan Plowright. -Exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 1980. -A striking example of Heseltine’s surreal, intensely dreamlike style. -Depicts a bride diving from a church into a waiting classic Mini. -The bride wears a cream meringue-style wedding dress, sheer veil and platform shoes. -Behind the bride, mourners carry a coffin and wreath into the church. -The mysterious, cinematic scene invites viewers to imagine their own story. -Heseltine exhibited at the Royal Academy and belonged to the Royal Academy Schools East Anglia Group. -Frame Dimensions: 122 cm x 3 cm x 122 cm. A Royal Academy Exhibition 1980 label is attached confirming that the painting is by 'Heseltine Julia Katrina' at address 'Looms Cottage - Burgh Nr Woodbridge Suffolk' . The title of the work is confirmed as 'The Bride And The Mourners' and that it is an 'Oil Painting'. Material Original oil painting on board with a bespoke original wooden painted frame. Condition The painting and original bespoke painted wooden frame are in good overall condition given its age and use.  There are small areas of paint loss which show as white dots. The mini car door has a more rough finish where the artist may have used a sponge or it may be due to wear and tear. The frame is in good overall condition with no cracks or breakages. There are some dinks, scratches and paint and sight wood loss on the frame due to its age and use. The painting has been professionally re-framed in its original frame - to include a new backing board fixed to the back of the painting and new cord hanger. The bespoke wooden frame has been strengthened on each corner. The four corners of the frame show a small amount of gapping.
