Rare Art Deco Girard et Cie Ltd Soiree Powder Compact Circa 1920

Fabulous 1920S "Soirée" powder compact produced by the English perfumer Girard et Cie Ltd. This powder compact measures 5 cm in diameter and is made of brass metal. The beautiful image to the lid is influenced by Japanese decorative arts and the Aesthetic movement of the late 19th century which continued to shape taste and style into the 1920s. The picture depicts a lady with decorated fan. She has flaming red hair which has not yet been cropped indicating this was the beginning of the 1920s. This powder compact has firm hinge and secure clasp and opens to reveal a clear and reflective framed mirror under the lid and clean, empty powder well in the base. This rare art deco powder compact is offered in very good condition with no dents or dings to the case. The metal is bright and shiny with a few surface marks to the base. The picture lid is undamaged and the interior is very clean.
