Item of the Week - Pair of Mahogany Bedside Chests of Drawers

When decorating or designing a bedroom we very often select key pieces of furniture to give it that warm, comfortable and familiar feel that we generally associate with a bedroom, such as, a bed, a wardrobe, a dressing table perhaps, and more often or not, one or two very understated but very important items; Bedside Chests of Drawers. For our Item of The Week we bring you this exquisite pair of Victorian bedside chests of drawers.

Chests of Drawers have been in use in the home for hundreds of years, they can vary in shape and size and often take pride of place alongside other superior pieces of furniture.  However, Bedside Chests are mostly far more compact and their simplicity is charming.  But this simplicity must not undermine its practicality, for not only do they make for a beautiful antique item and bedside accompaniment, but they are very useful indeed for storage, for placement of your bedside lamp or simply to rest your personal belongings on, such as a book, or an alarm clock.

These chests are dated circa 1900 and as was typical for this period they are made from Mahogany, a wood of superior quality and appearance, whilst the drawer sides and bottoms are made from Ash wood. The chests are relatively flat fronted and each chest has four graduating fielded drawers which allow for more than adequate storage space. Each drawer boasts brass swan-neck handles and locks. An example of fine craftsmanship, these chests of drawers would suit an interior that was simplistic and classic, as they are elegant and unimposing.

These delightful chest of drawers are quite slimline but have great depth, so they need not be solely for use in the bedroom, they could easily be placed in various locations around your home and still offer the same functionality. They are durable, practical and attractive. These antiques are in great condition and would be a welcome addition to any home.

They are being offered for sale by Bury Court Antiques for £795.
