Item of The Week - Antique Victorian Silver Jewellery Casket c.1897

In little under a months’ time, people worldwide will be declaring their love for each other as they partake in the tradition that is, Valentines’ Day; A day where we express just that little bit more how much we care, a day where we bestow gifts upon our loved ones, a day of love.  So say it with flowers, say it with chocolates, say it with poetry, or you could say it with this Antique Victorian Silver Jewellery Casket!

Made from sterling silver, this jewellery box is crafted in the form of a travelling trunk complete with carrying handles. Its’ intricate detailing adds to its’ charm and appeal and it is free from any inscriptions, meaning that you are welcome to leave it in its’ original form or you could have a little personalised inscription added to the central cartouche.

Although this is listed and described as a Jewellery casket, we’re certain it could be used to hold many other personal or household items and could prove to be a versatile piece indeed.  Placed anywhere around your home, be it in the Bedroom, Living Room or even the Kitchen, we’re sure it will look superb.

This casket is in very good and fully functioning condition and bears silver hallmarks to the base, lid and both handles. It is hallmarked Birmingham 1897 and was made by well-known Silversmiths ‘Levi & Salaman.’ Standing at 7.5cm high and 10.5cm wide, it is a wonderful size and would provide a very decent amount of storage space.

So this Valentines’ Day, Impress and excite that special someone and watch their face light up when you present them with this beautiful Antique gift.
