Item Of The Week - Victorian Armchair c.1880

Despite being 100 + years old, antiques don’t have to look old and decrepit, and when it comes to antique furniture, there is no reason why these antiques can’t blend in to the modern home. Sometimes, all it takes is a little TLC. And so, for this weeks ‘Item of The Week’, we have selected this re-upholstered Victorian Armchair.

This attractive armchair dates from c.1880 and has been lovingly restored back to its former glory, after being re-upholstered in this modern Taupe fabric. This would not only fit in perfectly with a grey, cream or beige based interior, but could work equally well in a more vibrant setting. With its buttoned and beautifully curved back, it certainly looks very comfortable, especially for a chair that is around 137 years old!

The frame of this armchair appears to be constructed from mahogany, although this hasn’t been confirmed by the Dealer selling this item, and despite its initial modern appearance, it boasts typical Victorian traits in its design with quite elaborately carved arms/legs. It sits on small castors which will make it nice and easy for you to move the chair around until you find the perfect place for it to sit.
