Item of The Week - Painted Table & 6 Chairs c.1920

Happy New Year to you all.  We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are ready for the year ahead. We wanted to start the year as we mean to go on; bringing you lots of exciting Antiques for our ‘Item of The Week’, so to start us off, we have selected this Stunning Painted Table & 6 Chair Set.

This fabulous Oak Set comes complete with an extending Dining Table and 6 Chairs which have been ‘lovingly hand-painted’ as have the legs of the table, whilst the table top has been treated to 2 coats of soft wax to protect it from spills. Two of the chairs have armrests and all the chairs have padded, reupholstered seats.

Whilst this is a great social/family table due to its’ generous size, we were quite taken with its’ versatility as it can be adapted from a 6-seater table to a four.  This is a great feature if you wanted to keep the table more compact for everyday use or to save space, but it can easily be extended to cater for larger parties and gatherings.

And despite being almost 100 years old, this set which dates from 1920 would most definitely not look out of place in a modern décor. Equally, with the rustic looking Oak table top and the delicate detailing on the back rests of the chairs, this set could be a beautiful addition to a country home. 

The Dealer selling this set states that it is a heavy and sturdy set, offered in ‘First class’ condition. It is being sold by ‘World of Antiques’ for £605
