Item of The Week - Edwardian Oak Gamblers Tantalus

For many of us the nights are starting to draw in as Winter fast approaches, and thoughts of home comforts come flooding back to us as we wave goodbye to those lovely Summer nights. Long Winter walks, log fires and cosy evenings spent with friends and family are just around the corner. And to prepare you for these evenings we have the perfect night rolled in to one with this Edwardian Oak Gamblers Tantalus c.1905

Here we have almost everything you need for the perfect night in. This charming antique Tantalus is around 113 years old but is still in wonderful condition and consists of 2 beautiful cut glass bottles (perfect for your favourite tipple) which sit either side of a central column housing 3 drawers. Stored away discreetly in these drawers is a deck of cards, a pair of brass Whist markers, gambling counters, a dice shaker and a set of 5 Poker dice in a leather pouch; a great selection to suit all. All that's missing is some food, drink and company!

The details on this Tantalus are superb yet subtle with the drinks compartments having mirrored backs, the central column has silver plated mounts and the drop-down front plate is lockable and boasts very attractive ornate Silver plates that contrast beautifully against the warm oak unit. Its overall appearence is rather sophisticated.

A practical piece that is sure to have contributed to many a good night over the years and when you've had all of the fun you can have, this Tantalus can be tidied away neatly, ready for your next night of fun. So what are you waiting for? Make it yours today and don't forget to invite your nearest and dearest around for an evening of antique fun.
