Item of The Week - Edwardian Gold, Amethyst & Seed Pearl Pendant Brooch & Chain

It’s that time of year again; the invites are being dished out for Christmas parties, and work do’s which have been months in planning are approaching rapidly, so are you party ready? If your outfit is already chosen but it’s the accessories that you’re lacking in and you want to stand out from the crowd, let us help you with our Item of the week…

This week it comes in the form of this Edwardian Gold, Amethyst & Seed Pearl Antique Pendant Brooch & Chain. You most definitely won’t find this necklace in the shops, so you can rest assured that no-one else will be wearing the same as you (we can’t make any promises about your outfit though!). But if by some miracle another of these does show up around someone else’s neck, you could always convert it from a necklace to a brooch, as it has dual functionality. Don’t you just love versatility?

Made in the late Victorian/ early Edwardian era, this beautiful Pendant/Brooch is very typically Art Nouveau in its style. Art Nouveau was a rather fleeting but highly influential period when it came to Jewellery as designers moved away from typical trends and started experimenting with combinations of various materials. In this 9ct gold example we can see that Seed Pearls and Gold flowers are used in the design, with a pretty Amethyst stone taking centre stage amongst the elegant gold loops. It is finished off delicately with a swinging gold droplet at the bottom of the pendant and sits on a 9ct Gold chain.

This pretty Pendant may be just what you need to finish off your outfit so make it yours today.

It is for sale from York Minster Antiques for £375
