Item of The Week - Antique Edwards and Roberts Ash Wardrobe

If you're looking for a practical, spacious and stylish wardrobe for your bedroom, forget Ikea, LoveAntiques has this gorgeous Antique Ash Wardrobe by renowned cabinet makers Edwards & Roberts that dates from Victorian times, and it's this weeks 'Item of The Week'.

Furniture most certainly doesn't have to be modern to be stylish and this wonderful example of an Antique wardrobe wouldn't look out of place in the modern home. It could quite easily be worked in to a modern space as Ash wood is of course still a popular choice when it comes to modern day furniture. Of solid construction this grand wardrobe still has the look of a modern piece with its chunky spacious drawers and large bevelled-edge dressing mirror, but retains its antique charm with its country style handles and decorative moulded cornice. But most notably, it boasts the prettiest floral & gilt painted panelled doors that you just don't see on current day furniture.

Based in London, Edwards & Roberts were one of the most popular cabinet makers of their time, creating top quality furniture through the second half of the 19th Century. They were known to use only the best wood for their creations, thus producing the finest quality furniture every time. And this wardrobe is no exception.

The large mirrored door to the left opens up to reveal a full depth hanging area for your clothes and a good sized drawer directly underneath, whilst on the right hand side, you will see that the floral painted doors are housing two shelves (perfect for shoes and accessories). This shelving area sits above a bank of 3 graduated drawers, and if that isn't enough space for you, you will also find one final drawer directly underneath. That's some pretty impressive storage space for your belongings wouldn't you agree? It's also worth noting that all of the doors and drawers are lockable.

Being over 100 years old, of course this pretty wardrobe does display some signs of wear and tear, which is to be expected. It is advertised as being in overall good original condition and has some minor damage to the cornice, but this didn't stop us from selecting this as our Item of The Week and we think you'll love it as much as we do.

It is for sale from Kernow Furniture for £1,695.
