Item of The Week - French Metamorphic Table Bookcase

We've said it before and we'll say it again that we absolutely love a bit of versatility here at LoveAntiques.com, and with this in mind we have found the most superb multi-functional piece of vintage furniture that we'd like to share with you as our 'Item of The Week'

This French Metamorphic Bookcase dates from 1950, so whilst it's not yet an Antique, it is still 70 years old and is still in fantastic condition, with plenty of life left in it for you to enjoy. Crafted from Pitch Pine with an Iron frame, this bookcase not only converts from a seemingly 'normal' open bookcase to a quirky angled shelving unit, but can then be turned effortlessly in to a table! Yes, that's right, from bookcase to table in no time at all!

So if you're living in a small house or flat and are a little short on space, or if you're the sort of person who likes to change things up occasionally, then this is the perfect piece of furniture for you. Fill it with your favourite books, ornaments and trinkets and when you get bored, or simply need the dining space, simply convert it to a table and hey presto, your requirements are met! Alternatively, this unusual piece would make an eye-catching addition to a shop space with a rustic decor or a vintage decor, or a small shop that would simply benefit from the space saving element & versatility.

When in bookcase mode, the decorative iron frame offers an attractive industrial appearance that works well with the rich tone of the pine, whilst offering four decent sized shelves. In table mode the four shelves come together side by side to create a good size table (150 cm wide) which would seat four people comfortably. The frame sits upon brass castors.

This wonderful piece of mid-century furniture is for sale from D and A Binder Ltd for £900.
