Description

A handsome early 19th Century bracket clock by Horatio Smith of York. He is listed as working there from 1825 to 1851 and also had premises in London. The clock is signed on both the dial and movement.

The 8 day double fusee movement strikes the hours on a bell and has a smart painted roman dial and very decorative original hands. It also has the unusual feature for a clock of this type, a strike / silent selector at XII

The case is in nicely figured mahogany with brass mouldings and brass inlay. To the sides are fish scale pattern sound frets and ring carrying handles. To the top is a fancy brass finial (possibly a later replacement).
