This is a good Georgian English antique porcelain teacup and saucer, the cup of bute shape with a ring handle, hand painted in overglaze polychrome enamels with floral sprays and sprigs and with gilding to the rims and handle.
Neither piece is marked but they were almost certainly made by the New Hall Porcelain Factory, circa 1815. The dimensions of both cup and saucer match known examples from the 1810-1820 period, as do the slightly compressed oval ring handle, the distinctive gilt decoration to the back and terminal of the handle and the carefully wiped, unglazed foot rings.
Please note, I have two cups and saucers listed in this pattern. If you would like to purchase both, please contact me to discuss a combined price.
If you have any questions regarding these pieces please don't hesitate to ask.
Breckland Antiques has clarified that the New Hall Porcelain Bute Shaped Tea Cup & Saucer, Hand Painted (LA156549) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being 1815.
Condition is excellent for age with no cracks, or chips and no signs of restoration. There is some rubbing here and there to the gilding. There are a few specks of grit and firing bubbles to the glaze. There are also two small brush strokes of gilding on the underside of the saucer which may be a gilder's mark or just a little carelessness.
I will ship worldwide. International buyers please contact me for an exact shipping cost as the price given is an estimate for the USA only.
