Description

This is a fine antique Georgian sterling silver caster or sugar shaker made by Hester Bateman and hallmarked in London 1790.

It is in very good condition with no repair or damage. Hallmarks are very clearly struck on both the body and pull off lid which fits securely. The caster stands on a wide circular base which has bead decoration which matches that on the body.. The top is beautifully pierced and finished with a steeple finial. There are lightly scrolled initials to the body.

Hester Bateman 's silver is very collectible and she was the matriarch of the Bateman family which was subsequently continued by her sons and daughter in law (NB and shadows shown in photographs are merely reflections).
