Description

This is a really nice example of an Art Deco era sterling silver dish - the piece carries full U.K. hallmarks for Birmingham 1933 and has the makers mark of William Greenwood & Sons who manufactured and retailed silverware in Huddersfield and Leeds.

I've referred to the item as a 'bonbon' dish (as is often the case with small dishes like this), but the piece can be used in any way you choose, perhaps for nuts, candy or other sweet treats.

The piece exhibits typical traits of the Art Deco era - stepped geometric patterns and streamlined outlines which are far removed from the earlier fussy and elaborate designs of the Victorian and Edwardian eras.

The underside of the dish has been stamped with the makers details and the design registration number 783129 which puts the design date at 1933, tying in well with the hallmark date.

The piece measures 15.2cm across x 8.5cm - the height is approximately is 3.5cm - the total unpacked weight is 100.3g / 3.23ozt.

This is a decorative and usable piece, so typical of the era - please study the images provided to satisfy yourself as to the condition of the item - if you have any further questions please ask and I'll be happy to oblige.
