Description

This is a good example of an antique solid sterling silver Georgian serving or table spoon from the long-closed Exeter Assay Office.

The spoon is hallmarked on the reverse of the finial for Exeter 1806. The maker's mark looks to be that of William Welch II. There are blocked initials beside the hallmark of PRS and a different set of italicised initials on the finial, possibly RP, indicating a transfer of ownership. The spoon is in the Old English Pattern and the silver is in a very good condition.
