Description

This superb compactum wardrobe is in the Art Deco style with lovely ribbed doors. We believe it to be of French origins, and to date from the 1930s / 1950s. It is constructed from oak, some solid, some veneered over a wooden carcass and is very heavy. It does dismantle for ease of transportation.

The wardrobe consists of a central hanging section with shelf above and a metal hanging rail. This section has a full-length bevel-edged mirrored door. At either side there are ribbed wooden doors, which each open to reveal four removable wooden shelves. All the shelves have lovely inlaid decoration to the fronts. All the doors retain their locks and there is one key present which works all the locks. The wardrobe is supported on an inverted shaped plinth base.

Please note that we have a matching dressing table and double bed also available for sale - please see our other listings.

Condition

Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition, with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the wardobe is overall a little faded. There is some surface rusting and corrosion to the metal fixings, primarily the hinges. There is some slight spotting to the mirror. The locks are a little stiff from disuse.
