Description
This is a superb late 19th Century Louis XVI style kingwood breakfront vitrine / display cabinet attributed to Francois Linke. Marble topped and adorned with gilt bronze frames and frieze. The central frieze depicting the head of the goddess Ceres, with fruit and cornucopias between two goats. To the left, right and sides of the central freize features a pair of putti with goat legs playing the horn. The deep bevelled glass is all beautifully framed in gilt bronze with floral decoration to the corners. Diamond parquetry decoration compliments the bronze adornments to the lower sections and to the large central glazed door, further decorated with an oval gilt bronze frame, surrounded by ribbons, laurel leaves, branches of roses and inset with a ceramic Wedgwood plaque.
The central door with original key opens to reveal a spacious interior with two adjustable shelves, mirrored glass and a fully lined back in unmarked golden damask fabric.
