Description
A medieval limestone fragment, originally from a large niche in which a carved saint would have once been housed. The fragment has a misericord-type shelve with a heavily moulded mantel and a finely carved cluster of foliage and flowers. The shelve sits within a dished back and is flanked by a pair of hexagonal columns. This is a fantastic piece of medieval architecture and would look superb if it was built back into a wall and used to display sculpture.
