Description
I am pleased to offer this lovely early 19th century Japanese four case inro by the renowned maker Kansai. The scene is a necklace of flowers threaded on a cord which meanders over both sides and the top of the inro. Some of the flowers have onlaid mother of pearl and others are coloured with red lacquer. Very fine detailing throughout and signed to the base Kansai saku. The inro opens and closes smoothly. The netsuke is signed Jokasai, one of the Yamada family of lacquer artists. The ojime bead is malachite. Overall condition is good, there is no damage to the cord holes, and no chips or cracks, however there are scattered losses to the delicate and extremely thin mother of pearl layers.
