Early 20th Century Oval Mahogany Wine Cooler

A well figured mahogany wine cooler/jardinière with an arcaded carved support with brass banding on square tapered supports terminating on spade feet. Wine-coolers and Cellarettes were widely used from the 18th century & throughout the 19th century for chilling wine. They tend to be wooden, often mahogany or oak strengthened with brass bands to the outer edge, and lead-lined with a bung to release melted ice.
