Description
This is an extremely fine 19th Century English antique ball and claw down feather sofa after the Ramsden ball and claw model by Howard & Sons.
Wonderfully drawn, it was strange not to find a makers mark on this sofa as it would undoubtedly have been by one of the leading upholsterers of its time. Very comfortable having a shaped quilted down feather sprung back and quilted armrests over two down feather cushioned sprung squab seats, raised on three wonderfully carved ball and claw hipped legs with acanthus leaf and rosettes carved to the knee, with splays to the rear.
The carving to the ball and claw feet is of the highest quality with dense mahogany timber used. Newly upholstered in a fine quality neutral linen.
A very well made and stylish sofa that is super comfy.
