Our business is based in the beautiful village of Debenham in Suffolk, England, which is close to Constable country. I take our pride in being the 4th generation in my family to be antique dealers who have been buying and selling antiques for over a century. With our expanding web presence in the UK, we also have a base in the USA with Debenham Antiques inc. Along with expanding our international web based business, we also quite unusually retain our high street presence, with a large retail shop which we use to display our finest goods, and to offer the client a more personal service for the those who like to discuss their needs.

Fine quality louis philippe i period 5 piece gilt salon suite circa 1830. We are pleased to offer this superb quality gilt salon suite with original tapestry covering, from the period of louis philippe the first of france. Set comprises of a sofa and 4 matching armchairs. Carved detailing to back rests and a beaded detail all around the back rests. Carved acanthus leaves to arms, rosettes linking to further carving along the frieze. All standing on tapered channeled legs. original paintwork and gilding. The main feature is the unique tapestry work, each seat and back rest depicting a individual piece of rural french life. Tapestry retains a vivid colour for age. tapestry has been restored around the outer edges using a traditional method. Expected threadbare areas and losses and minor surface fading. Losses to paintwork and woodwork. Fantastic example of french furniture of this period.
