Description
Georgian Satinwood 10" Dial Barometer
A late 18th to early 19th century Georgian satinwood veneered wheel barometer and thermometer.
The barometer has an unusual 10" hand painted dial that is domed and has the maker's name 'George King Woodbridge' painted in black.
Woodbridge in Suffolk was the home to many clock makers.
The dial has a steel hand to show the barometric pressure and a pierced and finely engraved brass register hand that is adjusted manually by the knob below.
The case has a circular spirit level at the base, a hydrometer to the top and a long mercury thermometer attached to the long neck.
The very top of the case has a broken arch pediment with a gilded brass finial as a decoration.
The barometer is in very good condition and in full working order. (Circa 1800)
