Description
Size: Image: 746 × 521 mm (29 x 20.5 inches approx) Condition: Very good condition, colours fresh (compares well to online images of other examples in e.g. the Tate Gallery.) Ink signature is quite badly faded. Very lsight mount mark and small mark in bottom margin not affecting image A fantastic caricature by the acerbic Gerald Scarfe. This one, though not flattering, is not as cruel as some. The print is a colour lithograph. It is signed in ink by Scarfe bottom right although the signature has degraded badly. The edition was 100 - this copy does not appear to be numbered. Clearly this print is rare, owing to the small edition size and popular subject, and we are not aware of any other copy currently for sale. About the artist Gerald Anthony Scarfe, (born 1 June 1936) is an English cartoonist and illustrator. He has worked as editorial cartoonist for The Sunday Times and illustrator for The New Yorker. His other work includes graphics for rock group Pink Floyd, particularly on their 1979 album The Wall, its 1982 film adaptation, and tour (1980–81), as well as the music video for "Welcome to the Machine". Scarfe was the production designer on the Disney animated feature Hercules (1997). Scarfe also provided the opening titles for Yes Minister and Yes, Prime Minister.
