Description
Albert Frank Lynton Giles, born in London. He studied at Goldsmiths’ College School of Art and St Martin’s School of Art, teachers including Clive Gardiner, James Bateman, Stanley Anderson and Vivian Pitchforth. He began his career in 1926 when he was apprenticed to the Ascoli Studio, afterwards being a magazine illustrator and graphic designer for London agencies.
Advertising campaigns worked on included Daz and Tide washing powders, Camay toilet soap and Johnson Wax. Sometimes signed his work Lynton Giles. Was elected RWA in 1978. He showed at RA, RP, RBA, RI, RWS, extensively in the provinces and at Paris Salon, where he won a silver medal in 1948. Principal works included The Milliner, Cornish Fisherman and My Son Geoffrey. Public collections in Sheffield, Worthing and Bristol and RWA hold examples. Lived in Worthing, Sussex.

the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being c.1965 (?)
condition
The poster is in generally good condition apart from some light staining to the margins where it has been fixed to a backboard. These show on the images. There is a central crease as is normal with posters.
