Bernard Batchelor (1924-2012) was born in Teddington, Middlesex. Son of the artist Roland Batchelor 1889-1990. Studied at St. Martin's School of Art with H Andrew Freeth and Roland Pitchforth in 1946-49, at City and Guilds of London Art School with AR Middleton Todd. Showed his work at Business Art Galleries, Wykenham Gallery, Catto Gallery and others. He was a member of the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolour and the son of the late Roland Batchelor RWS. He began painting when young and gained much of his inspiration from painting trips to the continent with his Father. He was particularly happy when painting in Switzerland and he also painted a great deal in the River Thames area where he used to go camping with his Father. He was commissioned by the Ministry of Works to do drawings of the coronation of HM Queen Elizabeth II and these were later shown at an exhibition in London.
