Description
A superb lead glaze earthenware spill vase by Ralph Wood the Younger (1748-1795). The design is in the form of a shepherd and his lady, who is holding a lamb in her arms, both seated beneath the trunk of a large tree with a sheep at their feet and a bird perched in one of the branches. The tree and the base are painted in naturalistic tones. The figures are uncoloured. This piece is unmarked.
