This is a beautiful and rare late 19th Century watercolour portrait painting depicting a young child who is collecting sea shells in the sand with the sea beyond. The sitter is believed to be 'Cardinal John Henry Newham' (1801-1890) as child. Reputedly painted Circa 1900 by 'Colonel Sir Henry Louis Crichton Kcb (1844-1922) Indeed, the attached images of 2 early notes detail the provenance of this utterly charming portrait painting. The piece is mounted with the original 19th Century glazed and gilt frame. Attributes:- Watercolour Painting Circa: 1810-1820 Attached verso is an original photograph of an earlier work and a detailed script of the painting. Also Inscribed: ''Drawn by Colonel Sir Henry Crichton of Netley Castle about 1900 *Certificate of Authenticity (COA) will be provided by artsonline with this piece* If a piece should arrive damaged on an extremely rare occasion, artsonline will, of course, refund the entire purchase price, together with any return shipping cost that occurred.
