Syrian Carved Hardwood Mother of Pearl Inlaid Occasional Table

If you have a choice in life, then the detail makes all the difference. This table is no exception with is stunning carved detail, shaped legs and exquisite colourful mother of pearl five inlaid circles. Would have been truly valued by the family who bought it originally. The inlays are designed like flowers, encircled by a plain border and outer carved vine. Each vine overlays the next, and each vine ring is connected and flows from one to another. Very clever. The tables top has eight lobes with a small breakfront adjoining the smaller lobes. The edge detail a very nice as it is beautifully shaped upwards to the flat surface. Three curved legs are carved with mother of pearl button inlays. These meeting the central linking section created in a similar design to the top. Finished underneath with a Islamic shaped finial and splayed out legs, again inlaid with mother of pearl buttons. Very special indeed and would make a lovely occasional table and conversational piece. Material: Hardwood & Mother of Pearl Period: 19th Century
