Two 16th century throne chairs with later 19th century restorations. Both chairs are of large proportions and have a heavy oak construction. The chairs have paneled backs - one with gothic arches and tracery , the other with long linenfold panels with gothic tracery in the centre. Both have linenfold panels in and around the box seats. One chair has three smaller panels at the front with a flamboyant tracery panel in the centre. Both seats lift off to reveal a useful storage space inside each chair. At the top of the chairs are two finely carved finials each with a gothic gallery. The chairs have had some wood worm damage and repairs which is to be expected considering their age. They both have a fantastic colour and patination and are in very good condition.
