William & Mary Period Oyster Kingwood, Rosewood Marquetry Chest

Stuart Period Oyster Kingwood Rosewood, and Arabesque Marquetry Chest on Stand circa 1680/85 by Gerrit Jensen Born Holland 1634/35 died England 1715. He moved as a cabinet maker in England 1667 to 1715. Very firmly attributed to Gerrit by Michael Legg (1929-2011) an expert on period furniture who, when he saw this piece said the only one he had ever seen in person was in the Victoria and Albert Museum. He was a founder member an vice president of the Regional Furniture Society. Also, a trustee of the Frederick Parker Foundation and active for many years in the furniture history society.
Bridport Antiques has clarified that the William & Mary Period Oyster Kingwood, Rosewood Marquetry Chest (LA354562) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being 1685
Excellent considering this was made in the late 1700's. As this chest of drawers has been used over the years there are a few marks commensurate with the age.
