Unique 'mourning brooch' where the side it swivels with is that of a hand carved bone or ivory scene of birds sitting on branches against the sky. Often called Victorian mourning jewelry but also many are of love birds etc so could just as easily be Victorian keepsakes
The setting is pinchbeck not gold. The brooch closes with a c-clasp which is fitting for the time period and is stiff may need a fiddle as when the photo was taken out it was put back together with the birds behind. The brooch may be worn with either the birds or the portrait worn on the front . Yes it is grubby as pulled from stores. Delivery being jewellery is special delivery reduced if collecting
The brooch is nearly 2 inches from bottom to top.
