This is an antique 'victorian' locket of popular proportions, an ‘eye catching’ item of antique jewellery (see 5 pence and us quarter in inset picture for size comparisons).
This HEART SHAPED locket has machined patterning to the front having centre set a shield shaped raised area, this is plain surfaced having a diagonal band set with a geometric design in pale blue enamel. The locket has a gold top holding ring with an inner diameter of 4.2 mm.
Reverse side has a lovely floral spray engraving with a vacant shield shaped cartouche to the base.
This locket is that lovely mellow rose gold found in jewellery items from the years bordering the turning of the 19th/20th century.
The locket will offer the new owner many more years safeguarding your most treasured keepsake or photographs. The hinge is sound and firm, the locket opens easily and shuts well with a reassuring “click”. Inside the locket has watered silk insets and Perspex covers, there's a retaining rim to both sides. The locket is firm with no buckle effect at all when pressed.
