This is a delightful hand-painted 1930s Carlton Ware 'Foxglove' design lidded preserves (or sugar) pot with spoon, illustrated with a iconic foxgloves design on a green glazed background. It formed part of the 'Australian' design range. Carlton Ware was a pottery manufacturer based in Stoke-on-Trent. The company is often best known known for its rather striking tableware, often in the form of highly decorated leaves or fruit. It produced hand-painted domestic pottery in high art deco styles during the 1920s and 1930s. It's in very good condition, the only blemish being some slight crazing and wear either side of the spoon near the neck - but it's still very attractive. Please see photographs. Dimensions - Overall height (including lid): approx. 11cms Diameter of jar (at widest point): approx. 9cms
